We left our palatial Chateaux accommodation with rain threatening heading inland making St Jean de Daye before wisely deciding to hit the local cafe before we became drenched from the persistent rain

Taking Coffee & sheltering from the rain ! |
With the rain easing we picked up the lovely Vire cycle route cycling alongside the river although in wet and muddy conditions

Our muddy path ! |
St.Lo, badly damaged during WW2 gave us the chance to dry out with the sun heralding our arrival. Here we made a b-line to the Boulangerie with Viv and Linton going first class sitting in a nearby cafe

St Lo |
Leaving St Lo we got caught in more rain sheltering temporarily underneath a motorway overpass before again picking up the cycle route passing the lovely river cliffs of Le Roches de Ham and finally making it to Tessy Sur Vire where after a coffee we hunted down a supermarket for supplies for our respective evening meals.

Cliffs at Le Roches de Ham |
All that was now needed was the tenacity to survive the last 5 kms with some testing climbs to our beaut farmhouse accommodation.
The only thing missing was a working hose to allow us to clean off the super glue like clay that had stuck to our bikes
With conditions cool and clothes wet we turned on the heater and set about making dinner to help celebrate our first day on the road.
